CHEMEX COFFEE
CHEMEX COFFEE
Invented in 1941 in, the Chemex process resembles almost a mix of the Pour Over and the French Press, with coarse coffee being used, but a similar pour over method of brewing. The filter method allows for some small particulates to flow into the glass flask, resulting in an earthy, stronger cup of coffee than a traditional drip maker that most Americans use at home. Our chief roaster Tim demonstrates how to make the perfect French Press, in this short 3 minute-something video.
Take a peek at this video if you'd like to learn, or perfect, this brewing method that has been mentioned and seen in classic American literature, film and TV shows including "From Russia, With Love", "Rosemary's Baby", the Mary Tyler Moore show, Friends and Mad Men, among others. The Chemex is yet another method ideal for those who insist on high quality coffee beans that have been roasted with such effort and attention to detail. It may be time to pause your familiar drip brewing method and try out a new method, especially if you are a fan of beans like what we roast at Split Rail Coffee.
